Bankinter, S.A. is a Spanish universal bank headquartered in Madrid, founded in 1965 as a joint venture between Banco Santander and Bank of America. In 1972, it became independent and was listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange. Today, it is the fifth-largest bank in Spain by market capitalization and a member of the IBEX 35 index. The bank operates in retail and corporate banking, asset management, and consumer finance. In 2025, Bankinter reported a 35% increase in net profit to €270 million compared to the first quarter of 2024, with growth in fees and loans offsetting a decline in net interest income.
